Our Mission & Values
Our team offers truly non-judgmental support to any family in Orange County, CA and some surrounding areas. At the end of the day, our primary goal in our work with families is to prevent or minimize trauma in pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting by thoroughly preparing families and guiding them toward flexible decision-making skills.
Our members are LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, welcome clients of any religious, ethnic, or cultural background, and are plus-size birth supporters. Our doulas often work with those experiencing high-risk pregnancies, those with fertility treatment history, families who have had previous losses, and VBAC families. Additionally, we are experienced working with out of hospital birth settings in the area, including birth centers and home births with midwives. All of our clients are unique, as are their needs for support during the birthing period; we feel absolutely privileged to be able to walk alongside families of varied backgrounds and values systems as they prepare and welcome little humans into their lives.
About Doulas
We are professionals who have training or expertise to comfort and support families through the prenatal period, labor, birth, and the first few months postpartum. We offer information and translate medical terminology so parents can easily understand their options. We seek to be a stable, emotionally supportive presence throughout and comfort folks using various techniques such as massage, acupressure, distraction, hypnosis, and verbal cues.
Birth Doulas provide support to families in hospitals, birth centers, & home births. We work with OB/GYNs, Certfied Nurse-Midwives (CNM), & Certified Professional Midwives or Licensed Midwives (CPM/LM) collaboratively. Our doulas will never tell you how you should give birth. We'll present your options, provide thorough education, and ask the questions that will help you make the best decisions for your body and babies.
Postpartum Doulas provide support in families' homes, at doctor's appointments, & sometimes in the hospital following birth. We offer practical assistance with daily life tasks like grocery shopping, errand running, and meal preparation as well as more individualized support. Emotional and physical recovery from birth can take weeks or months, and the transition is often marked with a lot of sleepless nights in addition to aches and pains during recovery. A postpartum doula's job is to help alleviate confusion and discomfort, answer questions along the way, & encourage confidence in new parents.
Our Clients
In the decade we've been practicing birthwork, our clientele has varied immensely. We've worked with single mothers, military families, families who foster, conventional nuclear families, multi-generational households, adopting couples, homeless parents, and more. From low-risk to the very highest risk categories, we've seen and supported a host of different scenarios in birth and parenting.
The only constant in our work is how dedicated our clients are to learning for the betterment of their health and that of their families. Navigating birth in the modern world is not simple. Our clients are often people who value education tailored to their needs and support that is consistent, compassionate, and thoughtful.
